One undoubtedly good way to get better, putting the body’s functions back on track, is to include detoxifying foods in our diet. • Spices and aromatic herbs: their regular consumption can be the first step to cleaning the body. Of the many that can be found on the market, we recommend turmeric, rosemary, parsley, black pepper, fennel, ginger, cumin, cinnamon and oregano. An added bonus when making many healthy and tasty recipes!
• Garlic: we know that garlic has a very strong flavour which not everyone likes... but it is an antibiotic, antiseptic and antiviral food that can reduce endogenous toxins and keep cholesterol and blood pressure levels under control. If you’re not fond of the white variety, try the black version, which has a more delicate, sweet taste.
• Fruit, vegetables and legumes: in addition to being an inexhaustible source of vitamins and mineral salts, the fibres present in large quantities in these foods contribute to detoxifying the body and cleaning the intestine. An example? Soluble fruit and legume fibres improve glycemic control, reduce cholesterol absorption and slow gastric emptying, thus increasing the feeling of being full.
• Lemon: one of the quintessential detox foods, useful for rebalancing the body and alkalizing its pH. It contains a lot of vitamin C and also has an extraordinary antioxidant power, combating the formation of free radicals responsible for aging.
